Rethink Your Drink

We challenged our families and now challenge you to drink more water. For some this is a tough. Many of us drink soda, juice or other sugary drinks everyday. And it’s shocking how much sugar is in so much of what we drink. Some think water is boring or are just used to grabbing that soda or mocha latte. Well, here are some ideas to turn that plain water into something delicious! Fill up a pitcher with water or seltzer, toss in some things from the list below. If using water you can let it sit in the fridge for a few hours (the longer you let it steep, the more flavor you’ll get) or drink it immediately. Flavored seltzer is best if you drink it right away.

Lemon
Cantaloupe
Orange
Cherries
Lime
Grapefruit
Basil
Mint
Grapes
Blood orange
Rosemary
Lavender
Strawberries
Blackberries
Raspberries
Pineapple
Kiwi
Papaya
Honeydew melon
Fresh ginger root

Get creative and combine some of these ingredients – the possibilities are endless but here are a few suggestions:
Cucumber and mint
Lemon and mint
Ginger and lemon
Lemon and basil
Blackberry and ginger
Cranberry juice and lemon
Orange, lime, and lemon
Lemon and a pinch of cayenne

For the herbs, crush or chop them up to get the best flavor. Similarly, squeeze citrus wedges, slice or cube melons, and crush berries.
